CityPal is a social mobile app that allows solo travelers to connect with other travelers and local hosts to arrange safe on-demand meetings to discover new cities together. From research, I found that many travelers are interested in doing it solo, but are scared to take the plunge because of worries about safety, loneliness, etc. CityPal helps make traveling more fun by matching you with your most compatible people, help discover hidden gems, and allowing for short-term companionship. During onboarding, new users complete a quick questionnaire that gathers their preferences and travel styles. This data is used to match users with their most compatible citypal, who are discoverable on the app’s map based layout. Users can discover city hot spots, and connect with other travelers and local hosts. Users can find others who will be at similar locations on their itinerary at specified times, or can make themselves discoverable by checking in at the locations. CityPal’s map also has a safety feature that alerts travelers when they are about to enter an unsafe area, or somewhere that has recently reported incidents. This gives travelers peace of mind about areas in a new city.
