When a medical emergency occurs in a school, there are typically many people present and are unsure of how to help. While a student may be sent to find the nurse or call 911, the situation can be difficult to control and result in wasted time. Furthermore, nurses are often underutilized in emergency situations, despite their much-needed training and access to medical records. Second Aid provides a designated shelf for extreme first aid supplies that, when opened, alerts the school nurse via app and allows them to find the location independently. If they are not nearby, the nurse can call into a speaker on the kit and provide directions to those offering the medical response. Second Aid also has an option to call 911 directly from the kit to avoid confusion.
