Exercise is crucial for those with arthritis. However, for children with juvenile arthritis, the idea of exercising their already stiff and painful joints can be scary and overwhelming, and so motivating them to manage their condition is a challenge. SQUISHI is an interactive toy for these children that encourages them to consistently exercise their fingers and wrists by requiring care, much like a pet. Children take care of SQUISHI by completing certain interactions with it, such as squeezing and pressing the areas that light up on its body so that its heart level and mood improve. Meanwhile, SQUISHI also takes care of them by promoting these exercise interactions, providing heat therapy, and giving comfort as a cuddly companion during times of pain.
